The Learning Schools Trust today announced the appointment of Nancy Robinson as Principal Designate for the proposed Ipswich Academy , which is proposed to replace Holywells High School. The new academy would open in January 2011, subject to a Funding Agreement and local consultation.
Ms. Robinson was formerly a teacher and Head of Department at Holywells High School. She is currently Executive Principal at Charles Burrell Humanities School and Rosemary Musker High School in Thetford, a position she has held since 2008. During this time, Ms. Robinson has led the strategic development of Thetford´s Secondary Education — working with the Acting Headteachers and Boards of Governors of each school. Previously, Ms. Robinson was Deputy Headteacher and Headteacher of Charles Burrell High School for 13 years. Commenting on the appointment, Steve Bolingbroke, Managing Director of the Academy Sponsor, Kunskapsskolan UK, said: “The appointment of Nancy as Principal Designate is an important step towards opening the proposed academy in January 2011. We are very excited about the local knowledge and demonstrated leadership skills that Nancy will bring to Ipswich Academy, not least given her past experiences of working at Holywells and with the local community." Commenting on her plans for Ipswich Academy, Nancy Robinson said: “Throughout my career I have been committed to helping improve the skills and life chances of our students. It is clear to me that the opening of Ipswich Academy will help to transform not only our school but also the local community. My aim for the academy over next few years is to raise pupils´ performance in exams and to help make it one of the most attractive schools in the area. I believe Kunskapsskolan´s unique personalised learning model will help us achieve the improvements that local parents want and our students deserve." County Councillor Graham Newman, Portfolio Holder for Children and Young People, said: “The overall priority now is to build on the recent achievements at Holywells High to transform the educational outcomes of every student that attends the school. I have every confidence that Ms Robinson can deliver the sort of transformation in aspiration that this area of Ipswich so badly needs." |
